Yummy Mummy Dogs – Gluten Free!

gluten free mummy dogs

Take me to your mummy!

Just in time for Halloween…

I almost never thought I’d see the day where I could walk into a regular grocery store and stumble upon pre-made gluten free making dough. And not just ONE kind of dough, but two!

Pillsbury has come out with two versions of pre-made, refrigerated, gluten free rollable dough. Thin Crust Pizza Dough and Pie and Pastry Dough. (There is also a gluten free cookie dough.)

I had just seen “mummy dogs” on Pinterest and was lamenting how much I missed “pigs in a blanket.” A delicacy my children have never known.

Literally that same day, I walked into our local supermarket (Vons) and lo and behold – there was the Pillsbury dough.

I immediately went home and made the  mummy dogs. The dough tasted terrific and I couldn’t quite place the taste. Then I remembered! The dough taste reminded me of Pillsbury Crescent rolls!

Admittedly, this dough is not as buttery, flakey and soft as its predecessor. But. Still. The kids got to try Mummy Dogs. And to be completely honest, I think I was way more excited than they were.

These are very easy to make.

Rolls out the dough and cut into thin strips.

Wrap around hot dogs.

Bake.

Add mustard eyes with a toothpick.

Serve.

Happy Halloween!

Product Review: Yes I would buy this again. Taste resembles a less buttery, flakey Pillsbury crescent roll, but is still very good in its own right. Has a slightly chewier texture as it is made mostly from sorghum, millet and rice flour. THANK YOU Pillsbury!
