Happy New Year Toast with Limoncello Champagne !

Thanks to this sensational homemade limoncello, this is the best sparkling wine that I’ve tasted. I’d love to say that this is my homemade lemoncello, but alas, it is not. The good news is this lovely bottle is apparently refillable from whence it came. The bad news is that I do not possess the secret family recipe.

A good limoncello can take months to brew up at home, however it can be found where other liquors are sold.

For our New Year’s toast this year, I put 1/2 oz of limoncello (aka lemoncello) in a Champagne glass and topped off with sparkling wine.

How happy of a New Year toast does that make? This limoncello was made with 100 proof grain alcohol (considered gluten free) and packs a mighty punch.

I’m not much for New Year’s Resolutions. I’m more of a “make it happen” kind of gal, so I will leave you with this quote to ponder while I go drink some more Limoncello Champagne and cook up a delicious dinner…

“Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes to us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.” ~ John Wayne

*Trivia: Sparkling wine is the same basic thing as Champagne except that Champagne comes from Champagne, France. Only THEY can call it Champagne.

Great recipe. We used it to kick off the first annual lemonFest of two thousand a lemon. This is an international affair and the drink is a big hit.
